Today, almost 2,000 employees back every load they haul. Maverick operates approximately 1,700 units coast-to-coast, in Canada and to Mexico providing customized logistics solutions to some of the nation’s finest corporations.

Maverick’s student driving opportunities provide the training you need to become a top-earning professional driver. Their innovative student program offers paid hands-on training in flatbed and glass divisions. You’ll work with the best instructors and the safest equipment in the industry to get your new career in gear!

Not only is Maverick’s CDL Sponsorship Program completely free up front, Maverick will forgive all your debt after you’ve fulfilled promissory note of 12 months of employment. That’s the shortest contractually required driving period of all of the company paid CDL training programs we’ve reviewed so far.

As a student, you’ll also receive above-average trainee pay, $600 per week while you train and $600 during orientation plus, graduation pay of $800. After you graduate from the program, you can look forward to great pay, unmatched home time, and late-model top-of-the-line trucks and equipment.

If you prefer, call a Maverick recruiter first. They will ask a few questions and “pre-qualify” you to make sure that you’re a good fit for the program. After you’ve been pre-qualified by a recruiter, you can submit your application. Maverick will process your application up front, completing all background reports and previous employment verifications. Processing typically takes 3 to 5 business days.

Once your application has been approved, Maverick will invite you to attend orientation in Little Rock, AR. In addition to paid orientation, Maverick will provide your travel, lodging, breakfast and lunch – plus you’ll receive a $50 prepaid card the first day of orientation. If you prefer to drive yourself, Maverick will reimburse you.

Here is how the Maverick paid CDL training program works. If you already possess a Class A CDL, you’ll go straight from the orientation program to paid hands-on training and paid OTR training with a Maverick Driver Trainer.

If you do not possess a commercial driver’s license (CDL), then, after the week long paid orientation program, you’ll receive a tuition offer. If you accept, you’ll attend up to a four week course at one of Maverick’s partner schools in Arkansas. Maverick covers your tuition, housing and breakfast and lunch. You’ll also receive a prepaid card as part of your sponsorship to assist you with license fees and any additional expenses you may have.

Don’t forget to bring:

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Social Security card
  • Birth certificate
  • Passport or Passcard (or receipt of application) – if you’ll be going into Maverick’s glass division
  • Emergency contact information
  • Rand McNally Motor Carrier Atlas
  • 25ft tape measure
  • Pen/pencil and paper
  • Calculator
  • Alarm clock
  • Social security numbers and birth dates of everyone you want covered by your insurance

During your time at CDL School, you’ll be in class/training Monday thru Friday. Here’s some of the skills you’ll learn:

  • Basic commercial driving skills
  • Arkansas commercial driving laws
  • Federal commercial driving regulations
  • Drivers logs
  • Industry-specific safety practices

After you graduate from Commercial Driver Training program, you’ll then head back to the Maverick terminal where you’ll complete business unit training in Flatbed or Glass, paid at $600 per week.

After completing paid hands-on training in Little Rock, you will go home for one week – travel provided! You’ll then pair up with a highly experienced driver trainer, one-on-one, who will mentor you during the Over-The-Road Training program. You can expect approximately 3-5 weeks of training and get paid $600 per week.

After you complete your OTR training, you’ll receive $800 Graduation pay ($400 when you test out of trainer truck and $400 on your first dispatch) then assigned your own truck! Starting pay is $.52 – $.53 per mile, depending on division. After 6 months as a solo driver, you’ll be given a pay increase of up to $.06 per mile, depending on your division. Additional $.02 per mile increase after a year.

Compared to all the other company paid CDL training programs, Maverick’s is one of the best in the commercial trucking business. Not only are all your training costs paid for up-front, including your housing & tuition, meals (breakfast/lunch), lodging, permit, and fees, but you only have to drive for Maverick for a total of 12 months in order to fulfill your contractual agreement and be released from any obligation to pay back the cost of tuition. In my opinion, signing up and completing Maverick’s paid CDL training program is a win-win situation all around.
