Heavy/Medium Duty Diesel Truck Technology
Boasting one of the best training facilities in the Inland Empire, the Heavy/Medium Duty Diesel Truck Technology department at San Bernardino Valley College provides training in various related subjects such as brake and suspension systems, computer controlled engines, and electrical and heavy duty maintenance.
Classroom instruction and laboratory activities taught by expert instructors provide each student with the opportunity to learn all phases of troubleshooting and repair work on diesel-powered equipment. Students will also learn how to properly use technical manuals, computers, and hand tools to perform each job.

The Heavy/Medium Duty Diesel Truck Technology Curriculum
The curriculum of the Heavy/Medium Duty Diesel Truck Technology program consists of the following career-specific classes:

Students are also required to take Introduction to computer Literacy, Basic Writing, and Arithmetic in order to meet the 41 credit requirements of the Undergraduate Certificate program. In order to graduate, students must finish each course and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, the equivalent of a “C” grade.

The mean annual wage for bus and truck mechanics and diesel engine specialists working in the United States in 2014 was $45,160, while the mean salary for bus and truck mechanics and diesel engine specialists employed in the state of California was $50,570 yearly and $24.31 hourly, 12% higher than the national average.

San Bernardino Valley College offers a one-year Undergraduate Certificate in Heavy/Medium Duty Diesel Truck Technology. This program is Pell Grant eligible.
