Diesel Technology  

The Diesel Technology program at Gadsden State Community College provides training, knowledge and skills for students who desire to learn how to troubleshoot and repair truck and heavy equipment systems. 

Specialized classroom and laboratory activities provide each student with the opportunity to learn all phases of repair work on diesel-powered equipment, such as diagnosing malfunctions, servicing and repairing diesel equipment, and repairing fuel injection systems.

Students will also learn how to properly use technical manuals and tools to perform each job. Proper techniques for machine testing will also be discussed. Students who complete the Diesel Technology program at Gadsden State Community College will be equipped with the basic knowledge, skills, and work attitude necessary to secure and hold an entry-level job as a diesel mechanic.

Students are also required to take either Vocational/Technical English or English Composition I, either Oral Communication Skills or Fundamentals of Oral Communication or Fundamentals of Public Speaking or Introduction to Interpersonal Communication, either  Introductory Mathematics I or Intermediate College Algebra (or higher) or  Introductory Computer Skills I or Microcomputer Applications, and Orientation for Career Students in order to fulfill the 56 credit hour requirements of the Undergraduate Certificate program. Students must complete each class and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0, the equivalent of a “C” grade, in order to graduate.

The Undergraduate Certificate

Gadsden State Community College offers a two-year Undergraduate Certificate in Diesel Technology. This program is Pell Grant eligible.
