Though commercial driving training programs are not as diverse in the northwest section of the United States, several viable options are available if you wish to secure your CDL license. These include both unpaid and paid training and cover all the fundamentals of starting  a commercial driving career. Below is a brief description of the available options. C.R. England – Company Paid CDL Training

Based out of Salt Lake City, Utah, C.R England has multiple locations throughout the country. Their truck driving CDL program includes housing and full paid training with full employment placement.  C.R. England specializes in driving safety as well as in classroom and on the road training, The tuition cost is $2995 (but offset by pay).

Jim Palmer Trucking Paid CDL Training Program

Established nearly  50 years ago, Jim Palmer Trucking, located in Missoula, Montana, is a family run business which offers transportation across the country.  Their training program, called the Class 8 University, includes about 40 hours of classroom time covering federal regulations and everything you need to pass the written portion of the CDL license.

JPT adds to this with the Onboarding class which is an over-the-road program with a personal one-to-one trainer for instruction.

Cost  – JPT training is a paid program.  You earn while you learn.

MCT Truck Commercial Driving Training

MCT is one of the leading trucking companies in  United States.  They are principally located  in Sioux Falls. Their training program is contracted out to professional truck driving trainers to assure that you get both professionals in truck driving and also in teaching. MCT pays for your training by covering the entire tuition AND paying you while you train.

MCT starts out with training in truck component and systems, continues on to regulations and other specifications you need to know in order to pass the written CDL examination. Your training will also include in-truck practical training, including backing maneuvers, turning, gear shifting and everything else you need to know to control and operate your vehicle like a professional truck driver.

Schneider – Company Paid CDL Training

Schneider is a multi-million dollar company that hauls freight and merchandise for fortune 500 companies. If you want to work for one of the best and train with one of the best, Schneider might just be your ideal CDL training programs. All applications processes begin with filling out a form on their website.

Upon acceptance, you will receive 40 hours of classroom training, 20 hours of training on the lot, and 40+ hours driving behind the wheel. They have a good student to trainer ratio with one instructor for every four students.

The McKow Corporation Training Option (TMC)

Mckow is a large trucking company that operates in all continental states. Their headquarters are located on 50 acres in Des Moines, Iowa in a state of the art  facility that includes room and board, classroom training, and in-vehicle training  facilities.

McKow offers two types of training.  One where you secure your own training and get reimbursed when hired by the company, or you can opt for their own in house training where everything is included (besides breakfast and dinner).

Werner Enterprises CDL Training

Werner is an international company not only operating in the United State but also in Asia, Africa and Europe. In terms of a transportation company, Werner Enterprises is massive, with over 12,000 employees. This makes Werner one of the most stable trucking companies in the nation with a wide variety of opportunities to train with.  Werner works with 800 approved training truck driving schools. Upfront payment for training is not available, but they do repay training costs with continued employment

Their main headquarters are located in Omaha, Nebraska. Their training equipment includes simulators to help train their drivers. They also boast one-on-one instructor training.
