Diesel Equipment Technology
The Diesel Equipment Technology program at Copiah-Lincoln Community College is designed to provide students with the technical skills and specialized knowledge required to maintain and repair various industrial diesel equipment including commercial trucks, farming equipment, and construction equipment.
Students learn the fundamentals of equipment mechanics as well as how to inspect, service, and repair engines, power trains, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, brake systems, suspension and steering systems, and air conditioning and heating systems.
Each student will also be given basic instruction in welding for diesel equipment technology as well as the proper techniques for performing preventive maintenance and inspections.
The Diesel Equipment Technology Courses
Students will receive a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on training as they learn about diesel equipment technology in the following career-specific classes:
- Fundamentals of Equipment Mechanics
- Hydraulic Brake System
- Electrical/Electronic Systems I

- Power Trains
- Diesel Systems I
- Diesel Systems II

- Welding for Diesel Equipment Technology

- Air Conditioning & Heating Systems
Students will also be required to take English Composition I, Public Speaking, Social/Behavioral Science, Math/Science, Humanities/Fine Arts, and an approved Computer Elective to meet the minimum 68 credit requirements of the Associate of Applied Science Degree or Technical Certificate program. All students are required to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 to be eligible to graduate.

The Associate of Applied Science Degree and Technical Certificate
Copiah-Lincoln Community College offers a two-year Associate of Applied Science Degree in Diesel Equipment Technology. Copiah-Lincoln Community College also offers a two-year Technical Certificate in Diesel Equipment Technology. Both programs are Pell Grant eligible.
